Road accidents caused by driver fatigue and drowsiness are a major safety concern worldwide. Long driving hours, lack of sleep, and fatigue can reduce a driver’s reaction time, leading to dangerous accidents. A Driver Drowsiness Detection System uses Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Computer Vision to monitor the driver’s alertness in real time and warn them before an accident occurs.
This project is designed to improve road safety by detecting signs of drowsiness such as eye closure, yawning, head movement, and facial expressions.
Many road accidents occur because drivers fall asleep or lose focus while driving. Traditional methods cannot continuously monitor a driver’s condition. There is a need for an automated real-time system that can detect drowsiness and alert the driver instantly.
